International Options
Direct International Learning Experiences
Students have a number of options for direct international learning experiences during their MBA Program at Laurier. There is the MBA International Study Trip that is conducted during February or April depending on the countries visited. The purpose of the study trip is to meet with executives of both foreign and domestic organizations that are operating in the selected international region to learn first hand what the business challenges and issues are and how the concepts learned in the classroom are being executed in international business practice. The students also experience the local culture and infrastructure to get some insights into what its like to work and live abroad. Previous trips have involved visits to key business regions like China, Asia Pacific, South America, and Europe. The international study trip is linked to an elective or directed studies in order to receive credit.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in short (2 weeks) for credit international education programs during their MBA studies at Laurier. As well as being held in an international venue, the participants in these programs come from different geographic regions. Currently there are three optional programs available:
- European Summer School of Advance Management (ESSAM) – a two-week international program usually held in a venue in Europe with a focus on the European Union and its impact on businesses within and outside of Europe. This program typically runs that last week of June and the first week of July. Further details on this option can be obtained at www.essam.dk
- Asian Intensive School for Advanced Management (AISAM) This program focuses on doing business in the Asia Pacific and is run in mid to late July in Malaysia. More details on this option are available at www.anbs.com.au
