Information for Domestic Students

General Admission Requirements

  1. A four year undergraduate degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum B standing (73%) in the final year of university study, or most recent 10 half credit university degree courses.
  2. Evidence of strong quantitative skills, normally by the successful completion of the GMAT test with a score of 550 or higher. The GMAT is mandatory for all students who have completed their previous degrees outside of Canada.
  3. Letters of reference. Normally one academic reference and two professional, or all three professional with more than five years of work experience.
  4. Applicants whose language of instruction during the undergraduate degree was other than English must furnish evidence of proficiency in English prior to admission. A minimum score of 573 paper-based, 100 internet-based (with minimum skills scores of 21 in each of the four skills sets), on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or its equivalent is required.
  5. At least two years of full-time work experience.

Co-op Admission Requirements

  1. A four year undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum B+ standing (77%) in the final year of study, or most recent 10 half-credit university degree courses.
  2. Evidence of strong quantitative skills, with a GMAT score of 600 or higher. The GMAT is mandatory for the co-op option.
  3. Letters of reference. Three academic references, or two academic and one professional, are required.
  4. Applicants are not required to have work experience. Eligibility is limited to those with less than two years of work experience.
  5. Applicants whose language of instruction during the undergraduate degree was other than English must furnish evidence of proficiency in English prior to admission. A minimum score of 573 paper-based, 100 internet-based (with minimum skills scores of 21 in each of the four skills sets), on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or its equivalent is required.

General Admission Requirements for 3 Year Degree and Non-Degree

  1. A three-year undergraduate degree in any discipline, plus ten additional university credits or a business diploma from an accredited university. The degree and additional credits must total 40 university half-credit courses, with a minimum B average (73% or GPA of 8.0) in the last 10 half-credit courses taken. If you have an International Undergraduate Degree or Masters Degree you must get your transcript and degree assessed by a Canadian Agency. Laurier’s application policy requires that International degrees are equivalent to the Canadian four year undergraduate degree for admission. Additional credits may be required to satisfy the 4 year, or 40 credit requirements.
  2. A minimum score of 600 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The GMAT is mandatory for all students who completed their undergraduate degrees outside of Canada.
  3. For our international students whose Undergraduate/Masters degree was not conferred by an English language institution, then we require a successful Toefl score (the Test of English as a Foreign Language). A minimum score of 573 on the paper based, or 230 computer based, or 88-89 internet based is required by Laurier.
  4. Three (3) letters of recommendation completed on the Laurier reference forms one, two and three. Candidates are welcome to supply three professional references. If the candidate attended an educational institution within the last five years then one academic reference is required along with two professional.

Admission requirements for the Accelerated MBA (Toronto)

  1. A four-year Undergraduate Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Commerce degree achieved in Canada, no more than eight (8) years ago, with a minimum B+ average (77% or G.P.A. of 9.0) in the last 20 half credit courses completed.
  2. A minimum of three (3) years full-time work experience. Part-time and summer employment between university terms do not apply. Some management experience preferred.
  3. Evidence of strong quantitative skills, normally by the successful completion of the GMAT test with a minimum score of 550 or higher.
  4. Three (3) letters of reference. If the applicant’s degree is less than five years old, one academic and two professional references are required. If the degree is more than five years old, all three references may be professional.

Admission requirements for MBA for CMA designation holders (Toronto)

  1. The CMA designation, with relevant transcript.
  2. An Undergraduate Degree in any discipline, achieved in Canada, with a minimum B average (73% or G.P.A. of 8.0) in the last 10 half credit courses completed.
  3. A minimum of five (5) years full-time work experience. Part-time and summer employment between university terms do not apply. Some management experience preferred.
  4. Evidence of strong quantitative skills, normally by the successful completion of the GMAT test with a minimum score of 550 or higher.
  5. Three (3) letters of reference. If the applicant’s degree is less than five years old, one academic and two professional references are required. If the degree is more than five years old, all three references may be professional.

Information for International Students

Admission Requirements for International Applicants

*International applicants include all applicants that have obtained a previous undergraduate or Masters Degree outside of Canada.

  1. Education equivalent to a Canadian four-year Undergraduate Degree, with a minimum B average (73% or G.P.A. of 8.0) in the last 10 half credit courses completed. Co-op applicants are required to have a B+ average (77% or G.P.A. of 9.0).
  2. Work experience
    • Full-time MBA: A minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience or six (6) Co-op work terms. Part-time and summer employment between university terms do not apply.
    • Full-time MBA with Co-op: No work experience is required. The maximum for co-op is two (2) years of full-time work experience, no exceptions.
    • One year International MBA: A minimums of three (3) years full-time work experience. Part-time and summer employment between university terms do not apply.
  3. A minimum score of 550 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The GMAT is mandatory for all students who have achieved their undergraduate degree outside of Canada. The GMAT is also mandatory for all students applying to the MBA with Co-op Option. We require a minimum score of 600 or better for Co-op candidates.
  4. For students whose degrees were conferred by a non-English language institution, TOEFL (minimum 573/230), or IELTS (minimum 7), or MELAB (minimum 90) or CAEL (minimum 70) results are mandatory requirements.
  5. *Those who do not meet English proficiency levels are encouraged to consider the Pre-MBA program here at Laurier. The 8-month Pre-MBA provides additional English and Business skills training, while also giving a conditional offer for full-time MBA study in the following year.
